Decree pt. 2

We often perceive God's Will as a destination or a specific purpose, and indeed, it can be. However, more profoundly, God's Will is a heartfelt posture and a longing for the things that align with what He loves. He loves people! He loves all people most especially He loves Broken & Humble people. We are on a seek & save mission for the Kingdom of God. We are on a specific mission to share the Gospel, make disciples (first in our homes), and be holy vessels for God’s power to work through.

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS WE SHOULD BE CHRIST LIKE. FIRM, FORGIVING, AND FERVENT ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND THE FATHERS AGENDA.

  • Firm in our resolve for holiness and truth (James 1 challenges us to not waver)
  • Forgiving ourselves and others because God has forgiven us of everything (Colossians challenges us to forgive as God has forgiven us)
  • Fervent for His mission purpose of seeing others experience freedom only found in Him (Matthew 28 gives us the mission of our purpose)
This is the Spirit of Christmas:

Matthew 20:28 (ESV)

even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

THE MENTALITY IS THIS WORLD DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND ME - INSTEAD IT’S ABOUT GOD. JESUS DISPLAYED IT EVEN THOUGH HE IS GOD.

John 13:9–15 (ESV)

Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” 10 Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.” 12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.

CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT PRESENCE. HIS PRESENCE AND DESIRE IS TO SERVE AND THEREFORE CHANGE LIVES. HE LIVES IN YOU AND I THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT SO WE SHOULD DESIRE TO GIVE THE GIFT OF OUR PRESENCE THROUGH SERVING LIKE HE DID.

HIS WILL IS WE LIVE LIKE HIM BECAUSE WE ARE SUBMITTED TO HIM

JAMES 4:7 (ESV)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 PETER 5:6 (ESV)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you

Why are so many frustrated trying to find or live God’s will?

Frustration comes when we try to live for Jesus without being submitted to Him

The will of God for your life is you take your entirety of time & talent and use it to lead people to Him - this mission is critical because it’s his will.

TO LIVE LIKE HIM IS TO SERVE LIKE HIM

Matthew 20:28 (ESV)

even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

WE DON’T SERVE LIKE HIM TO SHOW HIM WE LOVE HIM. WE SERVE LIKE HIM TO SHOW OTHERS HIS LOVE FOR THEM BECAUSE WE’VE BEEN RADICALLY CHANGED BY HIS LOVE.

CHRISTMAS REPRESENTS GODS WILL FOR US TO EMPTY US OF US

Philippians 2:5–11 (NKJV)

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

HONOR IS THE FRUIT & HUMILITY IS THE ROOT. THE ROOT OF OUR HEART DETERMINES THE FRUIT OF LIVES!

We are in Gods will when we think:

What’s the need?

We should always be looking to meet a need. That doesn't always mean financially. It can play out in many ways. Time, a listening ear, a hug, an encouraging word, a mowed lawn, a smile. What is it that can do to make someone feel seen?

How can I help?

If I am here and I am His and He cares about people then I am the answer because He lives in me. How can I be of assistance?

Who can I sow into (serve them in doin so sow seeds of faith)?

All that we do ends up being planted as seeds in the hearts and minds of the people we meet. What am I sowing? Will the fruit of that interaction be Godly?
